Do You Cheat In Draw Something?

April 9, 2012 by rochelle in Tech

Draw Something is officially the most download app. The app has sold more than 50 million in its first 50 days. This means the developer OMGPOP pocketed $180 million.

Unlike Angry Birds, however, Draw Something has been plagued with cheaters. These are online players that write the words instead of drawing them.

Party poopers are causing annoyance among those who are exerting much effort to draw. And this definitely takes out the fun in a game that is supposed to provide enjoyment to players.

OMGPOP chief executive Dan Porter admits that this can be a serious problem especially if one is playing with strangers. The incidence, however, does not usually happen among friends because cheating spils the game.

Another cheating that happens in Draw Something is when a player ‘force quits’ the app. This happens when the player does not like the word choices but does not want to pay to get new words.

The regular process is that a player must use his coins to purchase for new words. Coins are earned and accumulated by answering the drawings correctly. If the player, however, wants a speedier way, he can buy coins using real money.

The current problem with Draw Something is that players cannot report those who cheat. There’s no Report button anywhere in the app.

Porter said that if you encounter a player that cheats and spells out the words, you should ignore the game and then delete the match.

The app has taken the online world by storm. Even those who do not have great drawing skills have become addicted to the game. Draw Something allows players to play with friends on Facebook, search by user name or email, or hit the random button.
