Comyn is New CBA Retail Chief

August 10, 2012 by rochelle in Business with 0 Comments

Commonwealth Bank has announced that Matt Comyn is the new head for its retail banking services division.

Effective today, Comyn will be in charge of CBA’s group executive retail banking services. He fills in the position that Ross McEwan vacated last May.

Comyn has been working in CBA since 1999. From 2006 to 2010, he worked as managing director for online brokerage firm CommSec. He spearheaded the modernization of CommSec’s trading platform.

In CBA, he handled various roles, including responsibility over its local business banking operations. According to Ian Nareve, Comyn’s appointment would be advantageous to CBA.

He added that Comyn has consistently demonstrated high integrity with a strong focus on customers and people. Narev also said that Comyn has a deep understanding on how to apply technology to the financial services, as well as possessing a broad strategic vision.

Narev is the chief of CBA.

Narev also lauded Comyn, saying his skills set make him an ideal candidate to lead the talented team of retail banking services. CBA expects that with Comyn at the helm, the division would maintain its business momentum and would be in the best position to adjust and adapt to the changing operating environment.

Comyn’s strong IT and business background would definitely come in handy as CBA is executing company-wide upgrades on its IT system. The program is to ensure reduction of costs and increased efficiencies.

Customers can also expect to benefit from these changes as CBA will give more focus on online and mobile transactions.
