Small Businesses Use Facebook to Promote Goods

August 13, 2012 by rochelle in Business with 0 Comments

More businesses are utilizing social networking sites to promote their products and services.

According to the Sensis e-Business report, about 27 percent of small and medium-scale businesses are using the Internet. The number increased from 2010’s figure of 17 percent only.

Author Christena Singh said it is apparent that more and more businesses are seeing the potential of Internet in building a business.

It appears that Facebook is the social networking site of choice among SMEs. According to the respondents, Facebook provides a better avenue to increase interaction with customers and solicit feedback. Facebook also helps in networking with other potential businesses and, of course, increase sales.

The report surveyed about 1,808 businesses, 92 percent of which are SMEs that are using the Internet.

Singh said that a business can strengthen customer rapport and dialogue, and create brand affinity by using Facebook. Social media has become a potent channel for that.

According to Sam Korotkov, Facebook is an important channel in their marketing strategy. Korotkov is The Wall’s event director, who manages the weekly event held at The World Bar located in Sydney’s Kings Cross.

Korotkov said he provides content that are relevant to their customers to ensure that they are not spamming them. Aside from event details, they also discuss new music and current affairs instead of just pushing products.

Korotkov is particularly happy with how Facebook helps their business because it requires minimal efforts. He added that the rewards far outweigh the investment. It also doesn’t require much preparation but the details are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
