Australia Post Services Online Retailers
Australia Post is looking to partner with Tarazz.com.au. Tarazz is an Australian-based international shopping service and Australia Post shall be its exclusive partner in shipping.
According to the online seller, it is set to increase its products to three million items by 2013. Currently, Tarazz focuses on goods targeting women and fashionistas. It sells some 250,000 items from Champs, Buy.com, and Wal-mart.
According to Business Day, Tarazz might also hook up Macy’s, J. Crew, and Banana Republic.
With this development, traditional sellers will feel the pinch as more and more people find it more convenient to spend their dollar online at the comfort of their homes.
Furthermore, prices are 5 to 10 percent cheaper with Tarazz compared to the online sites of US shops. Tarazz has around 20 people in Singapore and Australia managing the entire operation.
Bridge Capital’s managing director for IT and founder of Tarrazz Tom Kling stated that partnering with Australia Post is the best way for them to serve their cross-border market. Australia Post is also the shipping partner of farmhousedirect.com.au and eBay.
Kling launched Tarazz import model in Singapore.
Australia Post chief Ahmed Fahour was said to have approached Kling in providing the same service locally. With the government giving $1000 GST-free threshold on products bought abroad, traditional sellers are finding it difficult to keep up with the high costs of their businesses.
Statistics has shown increase in online sales to 15.5 percent this year translating to $11.1 billion while traditional sellers only grew by 4.1 percent.
