Gold Logie Winner Hamish Blake Lost His Logie After Victory Party

April 16, 2012 by rochelle in People with 0 Comments

Hamish Blake, the comedian who stars in the popular program “Hamish & Andy’s Gap Year,” emerged the biggest winner at the 2012 Logies. He bested other rivals like Carrie Bickmore and Asher Keddie.

His sidekick Andy Lee also won a silver Logie, which sealed a double victory.

The duo had plenty of reasons to celebrate. They, however, may have enjoyed the after-party celebration so much that they lost the trophy that night. The pair had to make a plea on the morning TV program “Today,” begging the Logie to ‘come home.’

The comic team wore matching bathrobes from Melbourne’s Crown Casino when they faced the camera that morning.

A huge comedy act in Australia, Hamish Blake was believed to have won because of his large following on social media fan sites in Twitter and Facebook.

Known for his self-depreciating humor, the comedian said his win was mostly thanks to ‘donkey voting.’
He also said that it was a fluke that he was nominated and an even bigger fluke to win the Logie.

The pair is set to launch another show in time for the coming London Olympics in June this year.

The awards night, which is currently on its 54th year, also inducted Ian “Molly” Medrum to the Hall of Fame. Medrum couldn’t be present at the event because he is still recovering from an accident that happened last December.

Other winners included Asher Keddie for Most Popular Actress and Hugh Sheridan for Most Popular Actor, while Steve Peacocke emerged as Most Popular New Talent.
